Generic Requip is a non-ergoline dopamine agonist which activates dopamine receptors when natural dopamine levels are unusually low or non-existent. It is prescribed to patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease or Restless Leg Syndrome.
How to take
Follow your doctor’s exact instructions when taking Generic Requip. Do not take more or less than directed. Follow the directions of your prescription label.
Important: The dosage and timing of Generic Requip for Parkinson’s disease patients and those with RLS is different.
It is possible you will receive a Generic Requip starter’s kit, where each pill is marked with the day you should take it on. It is crucial you take these pills exactly on the specified day since each contains different amounts of the medicine. The pills must be taken in correct order so that you gradually receive higher doses of the medication.
When your Generic Requip dose changes, you may experience a temporary increase in side effects. You may take Generic Requip with or without food; however, taking it with food can decrease the side effect of nausea.
It is possible you will have to take Generic Requip for several weeks or months until you start noticing improvement in your symptoms. For best results, continue taking Generic Requip as directed by your doctor. DO NOT stop taking this medicine or change the dosage suddenly. If you do, you risk having withdrawal symptoms including disorientation and confusion, fever or muscle stiffness. Talk to your doctor about the medicine’s withdrawal symptoms.
