Uses

Generic Cymbalta is an anti-depressant medication used for treatment of MDD (major depressive disorder) and GAD (general anxiety disorder). Its other uses include diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain, chronic musculoskeletal pain caused by chronic osteoarthritis pain, fibromyalgia, nerve pains, chronic back pain and arthritis. Generic Cymbalta is an SNRI (serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor) medication.

Clinical research suggests that by increasing the amounts of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain, Generic Cymbalta restores the activity of the brain and the spinal cord. Consult a medical specialist before taking the medication.

How to take

Generic Crestor should be taken in strict compliance with your doctor’s instructions and directions on the prescription label. Swallow the capsule without chewing or crashing, during meals or otherwise. It is advisable to take the medication at a pre-defined time of the day.

Do not stop taking Generic Cymbalta without prior medical consult as it may lead to side effects.

Side effects

Familiarize yourself with the ingredients before taking the medication to make sure that none of them will cause an allergic reaction. If you experience any symptoms associated with allergies such as difficulty breathing, hives, swollen tongue etc., stop using the medication and seek urgent medical help.

Common effects of using Generic Crestor include fatigue, dizziness, nausea, digestion problems, dry mouth, no appetite and increased perspiration. Patients over 65 may experience worse body coordination.

Contact your medical specialist immediately if you experience any of the following: stomach pain; high body temperature; liver failure; dark or discolored urine, urination irregularities; muscle stiffness; loss of orientation; yellow-colored skin or eyes; suicidal thoughts. Monitor mood changes while taking the medication, especially for the first several weeks of the course and after changes of the dosage.

Precautions

Seek medical consult before taking Generic Cymbalta. Avoid combining the medication with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) or Mellaril (thioridazine), or taking Generic Cymbalta right after taking any of these drugs. Glaucoma patients should not take Generic Cymbalta.

Notify your doctor if you have glaucoma; liver or kidney disease; epilepsy or seizures; blood clotting problems; bipolar disorder; increased blood pressure; depression or history of any of those conditions, as well as if you are a drug user and prone to alcohol abuse.

As Generic Cymbalta may lead to disorientation and weakness, avoid taking it before activities requiring concentration and physical strength. Do not take the medication if you are breast-feeding or under 18. Notify your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.

Drug interactions

Combining Generic Cymbalta with aspirin, naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), diclofenac (Voltaren), piroxicam (Feldene), indomethacin, etodolac (Lodine), nabumetone (Relafen) and other medications to treat pain, fever or swelling may cause increased bruising or bleeding. Consult a doctor before using these medications simultaneously with Generic Cymbalta.

Make sure to inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following drugs: blood thinner such as cimetidine (Tagamet); warfarin (Coumadin); fluvoxamine (Luvox); diuretics (water pill); linezolid (Zyvox); tramadol (Ultram); lithium (Lithobid, Eskalith); St. John's wort; antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin (Cipro); tryptophan (sometimes referred to as L-tryptophan); frovatriptan (Frova), almotriptan (Axert), sumatriptan (Imitrex), rizatriptan (Maxalt), zolmitriptan (Zomig) or naratriptan (Amerge); antidepressants such as desipramine (Norpramin), paroxetine (Paxil), fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem) etc.

Missed dose

In case of a missed dose, consult your medical specialist.

Storage

Generic Cymbalta can be stored at 59°F - 86°F (15°C - 30°C), although the ideal temperature is 77°F (25°C). Store in a tightly closed container away from light, heat and moisture, out of reach of children and pets. Provide safe disposal after use.
